Growing Health & Wealth

Growing Health & Wealth

The Growing Health & Wealth Activity Kit was created for families of 6-10 year olds. It encourages grandparents and parents to help their young ones understand the importance of healthy choices and money. Key themes include building STRONG BONES and bodies through exercise, dairy calcium and food along with building STRONG VALUES with money through ways to save, spend and share it.

The kit includes an activity book, family guide, poster and moneybox labels, all free to download.

A key component of the Growing Health & Wealth program are Moneyboxes that help you and your child to develop personal goals, wishes and positive experiences. We encourage you to create your own Moneyboxes by using simple household containers and materials.

Getting Started:

Growing Health & Wealth – Getting Started
  1. Collect sturdy containers that have lids or tops such as milk boxes, yogurt or cottage cheese plastic cups, coffee tins, tissue or smaller shoeboxes. You will need three of one kind so you can label each Save, Spend and Share.
  2. Next you will need to cut a slot in each of the containers where your child will be able to drop their coins and dollars in - making the hole large enough so that money can easily be dropped in, but won't fall out.
  3. Be crafty! Using the three printed moneybox labels, attach to each container with glue or tape. Spend time with your child decorating each with stickers, magazine cut outs, foam letters and shapes to represent the three themes: Save, Spend and Share.

Congratulations! You're off to a great start for growing health and wealth!
