Did you Know

Does it affect me?

According to The American Heart Association, there's a good chance you or someone you know is affected by high blood pressure. In fact, an estimated 65 million Americans have high blood pressure and an additional 59 million are classified as "pre-hypertensive," putting them at high risk for developing the disease.

Keeping it simple ...

The key to the DASH plan is eating more fruits, vegetables and dairy foods so that you won't have room for all the other foods that aren't so heart smart.

  • If you usually only eat vegetables at dinner, try adding a salad to lunch and topping it with Cabot´s Reduced Fat cheese.
  • When eating a piece of fruit for a snack, add some Greek yogurt and choose a bigger piece of fruit. A large apple, for instance, counts as two servings.
  • Replace a cup of coffee at breakfast with a smoothie-to-go. Simply blend a carton of non or low-fat yogurt with a cup of your favorite frozen berries.
  • Drink reduced-fat or fat-free milk with meals rather than soda or tea.
  • When you need to feed your sweet tooth, grab a bottle of low-fat chocolate milk - not a candy bar.
  • Make your diet more interesting by trying a new fruit,
vegetable or flavor of cheese every week.
