What is MyPlate? The new MyPlate icon, introduced in June 2011, offers Americans a better way to see how they can meet the recommended Dietary Guidelines. By showing what a typical place setting should look like, MyPlate takes the guess work out of building a healthier diet.
Developed by the U.S. government with support from leading health experts, MyPlate focuses greater attention on increasing the amount of fruits and vegetables we eat each day and reinforces the need for 3 servings of dairy each day - encouraging fat-free (skim) or low-fat (1%) milk, cheese and yogurt choices at each meal.
How Does Cheese Fit onto MyPlate?
Cabot's 75% Reduced Fat Cheddar is the only cheddar made from 1% low-fat milk, making it a perfect fit on the new MyPlate. It tastes so great it was recently awarded 1st place for Low-fat Cheeses at the US Championship Cheese Contest.
