Las Vegas to Fabulous Vermont Virtual Challenge
All physically active 50+, US residents are invited to take the Las Vegas to Vermont Virtual Challenge, also known as the V2V2 Challenge. People from other countries can log on but are not eligible to win prizes. The Challenge was created for fun and fitness and is based on the honor system. You'll log physical activity for 15 weeks among friends (or soon-to-be-friends) for a chance to win very cool prizes.
Registration is simple. Create a log-in name and password on the homepage. After you've registered you can begin to log the minutes of physical activities you do each day to move along the map towards Vermont. You can make multiple entries per day.
For example, if you bike to the grocery store, and back home, 15 minutes each way, to pick up some delicious Cabot cheddar; then take a 30 minute walk at lunch or a half-hour row on your Concept2, you would log a 30-minutes for biking as well as a 30 minutes for walking or rowing.
As you progress, you'll build a snowman - first the body, then the arms, your snowman will grow as you go. The more progress you make building your snowman - the more minutes of exercise you log - the better your chances in the random prize drawings.
Start anytime after Monday November 2, 2009 and finish before midnight Thursday March 4, 2010 just in time to march forth for fitness.
The total number of prizes will depend on the number of entries. Return here after March 19th for a full list of winners. Note: we will post winners as soon as they accept the prize and give us permission to post their information.
The details:
- Winners must be at least 50 years old at the time of registration and a US resident.
- The 28 legs each average about 100 miles. You build more parts on a snowman the farther you go!
- All times are measured in 15 minute intervals, and all competitors will go the same distance for each 15 minute interval, regardless of intensity of physical activity. You should round up or down to the closest 15 minute interval.
- Only time counts in this contest, so keep logging those minutes. This Challenge is as much about the journey as the destination, so don't obsess about other Challenger's times or rankings. TheV2V2 is about celebrating fitness and camaraderie, not racing to the finish line.
- There will be several spontaneous drawings for those reaching milestones along the route, which will be chosen at random. The final randomly drawn prizes will be chosen on March 5, 2010.
We will award 2 incentive prizes at the half-way mark. Anyone participating will be eligible. Two grand prizes will be awarded, one among those who reach Vermont and one among all participants. On March 5th, 2010 one random drawing will be held among all participants for the balance of the prizes, excluding the grand prizes.
Grand Prizes include: a trip for two to Smuggler's Notch for a ski vacation, food allowance, lodging in a luxurious private condo, lift tickets, rentals and use of resort facilities.
Prizes at the conclusion among all participants who finish the challenge include:
