Accounts Receivable (A/R) Deductions Supervisor

Cabot Creamery, makers of the World’s Finest Cheddar Cheese, has an immediate full-time exempt (salary) opening in our Accounting department, that offers a flexible remote support option for the right candidate, but will be based out of our Waitsfield, VT office.  The primary function is to oversee all deduction and settlement transactions that are processed in the trade spend management system, in order to ensure accurate and timely resolution of customer claims and disputes.  This unique role offers high visibility and extensive exposure to multiple departments and provides opportunities to learn various cross-functional business processes.

Essential responsibilities include; review and analyze activity for the entire portfolio of customer deductions tracked in the Exceedra TPM system, develop the deductions management strategy, formulate deduction policies and procedures, ensure deduction resolution and KPI targets are achieved by providing support to the deductions and sales teams,  reconcile and perform periodic audit of expenses applied to trade spending events for promotional ads, billbacks, scan-downs, slotting, accruals and shopper marketing programs.  Additional duties include; identify areas of potential leakage, perform root cause analysis, recognize trends in pricing disputes and OS&D claims, proactively collaborate with internal departments to develop strategies designed to minimize deduction issues and improve invoice accuracy, and discover opportunities to leverage automation to drive process improvement to reduce administrative costs.

Qualified candidates have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline, at least three years’ experience in AR, Credit or Collections, solid knowledge of deductions (preferably with food or a consumer goods company), and relevant experience as a manager or supervisor.  Proficiency using Excel is a must, especially with pivot tables and V-lookups.  Preferred candidates have experience with a trade promotion or deduction management system and are familiar with Power BI business analytics tool.  Successful candidates are self-motivated and require little supervision, thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail, possess good organizational skills, and the ability to make decisions and be creative in situations when information is difficult to obtain.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to build constructive relationships with both internal and external business partners, while maintaining a professional, patient and positive attitude.
