The Very Best Dips & Spreads For Parties and Tablegating Fun!

As we head into cooler weather and the holidays and football season get underway, our thoughts and fancies turn to parties, family gatherings, tailgating, and tablegating and all the great foods that are part of those traditions.

At the top of our list for great foods for celebrating are dips and spreads. They’re loaded with taste, easy to prepare, and easier to serve. Just open a bag of chips, slice up a baguette, or serve with fresh veggies, and bingo! You’ve got a party going on.

We pulled some of the best from our amazing Cabot Cheese Board bloggers and a few perennial favorites from the Cabot website.

So let’s get started and get to dipping!

If you want a dip that is full of flavor and satisfying as all get out, look no further than this offering from Whitney at Little Leopard Book. Her Chipotle Pulled Pork Dip can tame the biggest game-sized appetite. It’s meaty, cheesy and definitely something to cheer about.

When Cabot says we have The Best Pimento Cheese recipe, you may want to take note. Because, modesty aside, this contemporary take on a Southern classic will have you begging for more…and more. Try it as a veggie dip, spread on crackers, or better yet, put some in between two slices of buttered bread, grill it up and you have a Pimento Grilled Cheese that could best be described as Food of the Gods.

Fall is the perfect time of year to serve this seasonally delicious offering from Gina at Running to the Kitchen. Gina describes her Pumpkin Goat Cheese Dip with Caramelized Onions perfectly when she says: “It’s tangy, sweet and savory all at once and perfect for the upcoming holidays and parties.” Amen, Sister!

Most dips that we love work just as well as spreads or toppings – for sandwiches, burgers, fish, meat, chicken and veggies. They’re a quick and easy way to take your standard fare from boring to brilliant. Cabot has four Greek-Style Yogurt based choices to transform your next meal:

This Broccoli Cheddar Greek Yogurt Topping is a healthy way to add a little zing to chips or a baked potato.

Try our Spicy BBQ Topping for your next burger or as a surprise addition to a grilled cheese.

Broiled or grilled fish is a perfect vehicle for this Curried Greek Yogurt Dip, but it’s just as good surrounded by a rainbow of fresh veggies for dipping.

The last of the four Greek-Style Yogurt Dipping Stars is one of the tastiest on the list. Bet you can’t resist this Bacon & Caramelized Onion Dip. It could be the hit of your next big game gathering or family gathering.

Hot dips are popular any time, but especially as the weather turns colder. Here’s one we love that was a Featured Blogger recipe on the Cabot website. Jessica from How Sweet It Is has created a gooey, flavorful dip loaded with corn, peppers, spices…and lots of cheddar and jack cheese. You may want to double up on this Hot and Cheesy Caramelized Corn Dip, it’s that good.

Cheese Board blogger Marnely from Cooking with Books gives us another easy and elegant hot dip. Her Sriracha Shrimp Cheese Dip (say that five times fast) has all kinds of warm, rich goodness with just a bit of a kick. It’s perfect, not only for game days, but for holiday parties too!

And speaking of hot dips with a kick, our next Dipping Diva is Cheese Board blogger Aimee from Shugary Sweets with her completely divine Hot Jalapeno Corn Dip. It’s based on a cold version she conceived earlier. It’s not too spicy, but it has just enough heat to make this cheesy, creamy concoction a delight.

This hot dip from Mary at Bare Feet in the Kitchen combines great South-of-the-Border flavor with chicken to make it substantial enough for a meal. No one is going to complain if they see that Dip for Dinner is going to be this tasty Chicken Enchilada Dip. Serve it with chips or bread slices and you’re good to go.

Donna at The Slow Roasted Italian, who knows her way around cheesy goodness, has created this Smoky Beer Cheddar Cheese Sauce that is just about perfection. It cries out for French fries, onion rings or tater tots to drop by and get friendly, but this saucy sauce wouldn’t say no to a pairing with chips or even a burger. Let you imagination be your guide on this delicious dip.

How about a dip that would feel right at home at your favorite Mexican restaurant? Cheese Board blogger Cassie from Bake Your Day has made it super easy and super delicious with her amazing Spinach Queso. This one should have you shouting ¡Muchas gracias, Amiga!

On a cooler, lighter note we head back to the Cabot website for an old favorite. This Tzatziki, made with Greek-Style Yogurt and crisp cucumbers, is familiar to lovers of Greek cuisine. Its fresh flavors pair perfectly when dipped with slices of pita bread or fresh veggies for a healthier way to enjoy the big game.

And finally, we’ll end on a sweet note with this Cherry Chocolate Chip Dip from Jocelyn and Inside BruCrew Life. It’s loaded with cherries, chocolate chips, and pecans and is just begging to be hooked up with animal crackers, graham crackers, vanilla wafers, or any cookie that looks like it needs to take a sweet dip!
