6 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
2 tablespoons Red Hots, Cinnamon Buttons or similar hard red cinnamon candy
2 tablespoons red sugar sprinkles
2 tablespoons sugar
¼ cup water
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 20 mins | Total: 40 mins
COMBINE all ingredients, in large saucepan. Bring mixture to boil, then reduce heat to maintain simmer. Cover pan and cook, stirring often, for 15 minutes.
UNCOVER pan and flip apples so they candy on all sides. If liquid remains, turn heat to high and continue stirring and flipping until apple slices are shiny and sticky.
CAREFULLY remove slices, with tongs, and place slightly separated on baking sheet or large plate.
REMOVE from pan when Cheddar Cheesecake is done, and garnish top with apple slices.
