Cottage Cheese Hacks

Cottage Cheese Hacks

A familiar face is taking over our social feeds—our good friend cottage cheese. The protein-packed health fad of the eighties seems to be popping up everywhere we look, but this time around, it’s dressed up in all sorts of creative ways.

So if you’re wondering what to mix cottage cheese with or what to put cottage cheese on, now is your time. TikTok food creators are making everything from cottage cheese toast with an egg and cottage cheese toppings like everything-bagel seasoning to creating healthy desserts like baked cottage cheese or mixing nonfat cottage cheese, greek yogurt, and protein powder for a fro-yo-like treat. And if you’re not a fan of the curd-like texture, worry not—there are tons of whipped cottage cheese recipes out there, too.

After scouring the internet for the most popular cottage cheese hacks, we felt inspired and hungry for more, so we created a few of our own.

Cottage Cheese Cheesecake Dip

The words healthy and dessert don’t always go hand-in-hand, but cottage cheese is a great way to bring creamy texture and richness without all the extra calories and fat while also sneaking in some protein. This Cottage Cheese Cheesecake Dip recipe uses just three ingredients to create the perfect dip for your favorite graham cracker: cottage cheese, raspberries, and jam.

With all the hype, it’s fair to ask, what is cottage cheese, and is cottage cheese good for you? The versatile cheese is made from the curds of cow’s milk—traditionally whole milk, but can also be made from reduced-fat or skim milk to make low fat cottage cheese or nonfat cottage cheese. With its soft, creamy texture, mild flavor, and nutrition-rich profile, cottage cheese is a great addition or substitution in dishes when trying to make healthier choices. Cabot Cottage Cheese has 110 calories per ½ cup serving, 6.5 grams of fat, and an impressive 11 grams of protein.
